The Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) at Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences, Jamshoro, are dedicated to strengthening the research culture within our institution.
Our primary goal is to foster a dynamic environment where research thrives. We actively work to connect our research activities with other educational institutions, both nationally and internationally, to share knowledge and create collaborative opportunities. By doing so, we ensure that the benefits of our research directly impact and serve the community. Additionally, ORIC is committed to supporting our faculty members in developing and executing high-quality research projects that meet international standards. We provide resources and guidance to help faculty successfully bring their innovative ideas to life.

Aims and Objectives

The Offices of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) are committed to fostering a robust and dynamic research environment at our university. Our key aims include:
  • Supporting University Strategy: Aligning with and supporting the university's strategic research directions and policies.
  • Securing Funding: Increasing and diversifying external research funding to support faculty and projects.
  • Strengthening Faculty: Making recommendations on the recruitment and retention of research-oriented faculty.
  • Integrating Research & Education: Strengthening the integration of research and education at all academic levels.
  • Public Benefit: Promoting the translation of research findings into tangible benefits for the public.
  • Industry Collaboration: Building and strengthening relationships between the university and various industries.
  • Promoting Innovation: Energizing and supporting the local and national economy by promoting entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and commercialization activities.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Research: Fostering and enhancing cross-cutting and multi-disciplinary research initiatives.

ORIC’s 5 Years Strategic Plan

Executive Summary
Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro, is committed to becoming a global leader in medical research. Our strategic five-year plan outlines a clear path to becoming a research-intensive university by leveraging our strengths, addressing our weaknesses, and identifying new opportunities.
Our core objectives, spearheaded by the Offices of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC), are focused on building a strong foundation for future growth. We will achieve this by:

  1. Enhancing Research Capacity: We will invest in our faculty's skills and knowledge to improve their ability to conduct high-quality research.
  2. Securing Funding: We plan to actively seek and acquire research grants to support innovative projects.
  3. Producing Impactful Research: Our goal is to produce research that not only contributes to the academic community but also has a significant positive impact on society.

Specialized Research Areas
Over the next five years, we will concentrate our efforts on several key areas, including:

  1. Drug Development: Our focus will be on the development of new pharmaceutical products.
  2. Diagnostic Tests: We aim to introduce novel and more effective diagnostic tests.
  3. Vaccine Development: We will initiate and advance projects in vaccine research and development.

By focusing on these areas, we intend to secure patents and commercialize our products, thereby promoting a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. We also plan to market our academic programs internationally, which will help us attract global talent and foster collaborations.
Our ultimate goal is to translate our research into marketable products that benefit both the local and national economy.
