Basic Life Support Healthcare Course |
On the kind directions of honorable Vice Chancellor, the 1st ever Basic Life Support (BLS) Workshop was organized on February 26th 2015. 12 participants participated initially which were trained by 05 Faculty members and they successfully completed the course.
After the success of Non AHA BLS program, efforts have been taken by Director Under-Graduate Skill Laboratory on the kind guidance of Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof: Dr. Noshad A. Shaikh for the affiliation of the program with American Heart Association (AHA), which is world widely, observing the specific program. Dow university of Health Sciences, Karachi is the international Training Centre for the American Heart Association (AHA) in Pakistan.
The Honorable Vice Chancellor in this regard, personally interacted with the respectable Vice Chancellor DUHS, Karachi.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between DUHS as international Training Centre AHA and Skill Lab as International Training site AHA and Dr.Asadullah Makhdoom was nominated as First Primary Instructor & Coordinator for AHA International Training Site at LUMHS, Jamshoro.
After the affiliation, eleven workshops have been successfully completed till now. A set of 12 participants has been enrolled for every workshop.
On the other hand house and Para medical staff of various medical institutions has also been trained for CPR on special request of the institutions. Workshops have also been organized for the Health Department Government of Sindh to train the health individuals posted at various parts of the province.
The workshop is always based on video sessions and hands on practice on simulators. The participants take hands on training on Rescuer CPR w/AED Demo, Assessment and Scene Safety, Chest Compressions for Adult Victims Airway and Breathing, Adult Compressions and Breaths Practice, AED Introduction and Use of AED in Special Situations and Safety, Introduction to Child BLS/CPR Chest Compressions for Child Victims Introduction to Infant BLS/CPR, Finger Chest Compressions for Infant Victims Breaths w/Bag-Mask for Infant Victims, Mouth-to-Mouth Breaths for Victims, Adult/Child Choking, Course Summary and Closure Written Test. |
