The Department of Community Medicine & Public Health Sciences, Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro Sindh, Pakistan, is committed to ensuring the excellence in teaching and research in order to produce competent graduates, as well as, Public health professional who will be expected to professional leaders and public health scientists at national and international level. Public Health Professionals protect and improve the Health for All through dissemination of knowledge, public awareness and advocacy.
The mission of the Department of Community Medicine & Public Health Sciences is to equip the basic & post graduate students with the knowledge and skills so as to identify, critically analyze and deal with the public health problems. Furthermore, the Department strives at continuously providing innovative teaching and training to MPH and PhD students and producing the Public Health Specialists possessing MPH and PhD. It is hoped that these highly qualified specialists will serve the nation effectively and deal with prevention, promotion and management of Health care services to the community. This will in turn reduce the burden of disease, improve the health of community and directly influence the economic status of the families, societies and the nation at large.
The Department is actively involved in extending consultation to government, as well as, non government organizations in the environmental, occupational, industrial and other fields. This helps in reducing the environmental, industrial, occupational hazards. The Department has its own state of art Water testing and Surveillance Laboratory. |
