Integrated teaching curriculum and Semester System has been introduced in the University and its affiliated Colleges for MBBS and BDS Programmes with effect from Academic Session 2007-2008 which will progress to 2nd year during academic session 2008-2009 and subsequently will be extended to 3rd to Final Year.
The semester system is a unique system in which education is delivered into a process where students can learn according to their interest. After evaluation of their performance/ progress assessed through different type of tests / assessments, they earn degrees on their cumulative performance throughout the Programme of their study and they are not compelled to commit every thing to memory for once a year performance.
The academic session shall comprise of two semesters each of sixteen (16) weeks; out of this period fourteen (14) weeks shall be the actual teaching period and remaining two (2) weeks shall be for preparatory leave.
The teaching to first semester may normally commence from 25TH November and may continue upto 1st week of March including one week winter vacation. There will be two (2) weeks preparatory leave from last week of March.
The courses curricula and examinations for the degree of MBBS and BDS are governed by the Rules and Regulations of the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council currently enforced, as amended from time to time and as adopted by Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences, Jamshoro. The course of studies for MBBS normally extended to a period of five academic years while for BDS four years.
